Hide AdWhile three of the four regional finals in the Faughan Valley and Sperrin Springs Cups were played out in pleasant conditions last Thursday evening.
Brigade hosted Coleraine in the Faughan Valley and the Bannsiders continued their excellent start to the season with a 43-run verdict over Gareth McKeegan’s team.
The contest was reduced to 16 overs to ensure a result on the night and the visitors had their scoring boots on from the start as Roy Silva (36) and Craig Averill (25) batted aggressively.
Key man however, and not for the first time this season either was Niall McDonnell, who hit 5 fours and a six on his way to an unbeaten 55 as Coleraine posted a very impressive 156 for 3 in their allotted overs.

Hide AdBrigade’s reply was always struggling after Mattie Moran went fairly early and despite a valiant 35 from Ian McGregor they were behind throughout.
Three wickets apiece for Gordon Cooke and Rishi Chopra allowed the visitors to coast to a comfortable win.
In the Sperrin Springs trophy Creevedonnell’s overseas professional Mo Hanware made a telling return to duty as he starred in a seven-wicket win at Ardmore.
The other contest threw up something of a shock as Qualifying One side Newbuildings beat Championship leaders St Johnston by 6-wickets, with Chris Cooper scoring an excellent 70 and Peter Allen scoring 41.
