Club Captains drive in the season as fabulous four win mixed comp

The golf season proper traditionally starts with the Captain's Drive-In at Banbridge.

This took place last Sunday as Paul Magennis and his wife Anne, the two club captains, both hit excellent drives off the first tee and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

The newly designed ravine was a little bit scary but thankfully Paul and Anne negotiated it perfectly.

Then followed a mixed team competition, which was a lot of fun.

The winners, on countback, were Sean McGreevey, Gerry McBrien, Fionulla Crossey and Denise McBrien.

The runners-up were Mary Longmore, Yvonne Galloway, Alex Clarke and Tom Mulholland.

Everyone retired to the clubhouse to sample the menu of the new caterer. It was a brilliant afternoon.
