Police had to drive at 110mph to catch speeding motorist in Tyrone

A man caught driving at 100mph near Cabragh has been disqualified from driving for two months.

Police travelling at 70mph were passed by 54-year-old William Black on the A5 on April 26.

To catch up with him they attained speeds approaching 110mph before following him for a mile at 100mph.

When he was stopped at Cabragh, he said that his speedometer had not shown anything like that speed.

Handing down a fine of £250 and a two month driving ban, District Judge John Meehan said, “This was sustained driving at 100mph - it was totally unacceptable.”
