MP calls for footpath gritting
The DUP man described the slippery situation faced by pedestrians in many ungritted residential areas during the recent period of snow and ice as “deplorable”.
“My constituency offices were inundated with calls from the general public during the recent period of very cold weather demanding that something be done to clear public footpaths of snow and ice. At an important time of winter sales, many local businesses also suffered severely because of the inaction of government to clearly identify those with the responsibility to act in such conditions.

We cannot sit idly by and allow such a deplorable situation to arise again with many people literally trapped inside their homes, and I call upon the relevant Government Department to make changes to legislation, if necessary, to resolve this issue,” he said.
