Maximum pay for councillors
Under the ‘reform of local government’ in Northern Ireland, the current 26 councils in Northern Ireland are to be combined to form 11 new ‘super-councils.’
In Limavady this means a new ‘Causeway Coast and Glens’ council will be formed, which will stretch across a territory from from just outside Greysteel in County Londonderry beyond Cushendall in County Antrim.

A ‘Causeway Coast and Glens Statutory Transition Committee’ currently meets on a monthly basis. At a recent meeting of the committee, the councillors sitting on the committee recently voted to award themselves ‘remuneration’ of £2,700 for their part in overseeing the transition.
